When someone asks AI who’s best, it builds a short list. Are you on it?
More and more, your buyers aren’t scrolling ten links. They ask ChatGPT or Google’s AI and get back a short list of recommended businesses, with reasons. This audit tells you whether you’re on that list, where you rank, and how to move up.

What’s Actually Happening
Search used to hand out clicks. Now it hands out recommendations.
Here’s a quick way to see it for yourself. Open ChatGPT, Claude, or Google’s AI and ask it to recommend the best painter, accountant, or IT firm in your city. You won’t get ten links. You’ll get a short list, usually two or three names, with reasons for each. That’s a referral. People still give them. Now AI does too.
For years, getting found meant showing up in Google search results and earning the click to your website. That’s still important, but it’s no longer the whole story. Today, people are just as likely to ask ChatGPT or Google’s AI for recommendations. If your business isn’t one of the names it mentions, you may never get the chance to compete for that customer. And if your pipeline feels lighter than it did a year ago and you can’t quite explain why, this may be part of the reason.
Why it matters now
The clicks are disappearing, and the shortlist is getting shorter
Here’s what the data shows, and none of it is slowing down:
68%
of U.S. Google searches now end without a single click, up from 60% two years ago.
~60%
drop in clicks to websites when an AI Overview appears, and it now shows on about 1 in 5 searches.
SparkToro, 2026
8%
of the time people click a normal result when an AI summary is shown, versus 15% without one.
1B+
monthly users already on Google’s new AI Mode, with usage climbing fast.
Here’s the part most businesses miss: there’s no notification when this happens. You don’t know how many times AI recommends another business instead of yours because there’s nothing to tell you it happened. You only see the result over time: fewer qualified opportunities, a pipeline that isn’t as full as it used to be, and no clear explanation why. This audit gives you answers instead of assumptions.
If your messaging isn’t clear, AI won’t recommend you.

How I Got Here
What I Found When I Started Asking AI Who It Recommends
A few months ago, I started asking ChatGPT, Claude, and Google’s AI a simple question: “Who do you recommend?” I’d ask about painting companies in one city, IT firms in another, accountants, roofers, marketing agencies, and more. What surprised me wasn’t that AI gave an answer. It was how consistently it recommended the same handful of businesses while leaving off other companies I knew were doing great work.
The companies getting left off the list weren’t bad businesses. Most had good websites, solid reputations, and happy customers. The encouraging part is that this isn’t random. After hundreds of searches, I found the same five patterns showing up again and again. Those are the five signals we now measure in every AI Visibility Audit.
1
Reputation
Your reviews, ratings, and what others say about you across the web.
2
Consistency
Whether your name, information, and identity line up everywhere AI looks.
3
Expertise
The depth and credibility of the content that proves you know your work.
4
Corroboration
Third-party proof that backs up your claims, not just your own website.
5
Activity
Signals that your business is current, engaged, and clearly still in the game.
So we built a straightforward way to see exactly where you stand on all five, and what to do about it: the AI Visibility Audit.

Common Questions
How is this different from a regular SEO audit?
Traditional SEO looks at your website and rankings. This looks at whether AI tools and modern search actually recommend you, which depends on signals across your entire online presence, not just your site.
Doesn't AI change all the time?
It does, and that’s exactly why the audit doesn’t just measure today’s answers. It scores the five underlying signals AI keeps coming back to when it decides who to recommend: reputation, consistency, expertise, corroboration, and activity. Strengthen those and you’re building a foundation, not chasing a moving target.
What happens after I pay?
You’ll get a short intake form (about 2 minutes) asking for your business, category, and competitors. We confirm your details, run the audit within about 5 business days, and then walk through the findings together on your 30-minute review call. If we review your intake and it’s genuinely not the right fit, we refund you.
Do you do the fixes, or just tell me what's wrong?
The audit delivers the findings and a prioritized 90-day plan you can hand to your team. If you’d like us to handle the fixes, that’s a natural next step we can talk through on the review call.
Who is this for?
Owners and leaders of service businesses that rely on being found and recommended, from professional services like IT, accounting, and consulting to home trades like painting and roofing. If referrals used to carry you and things feel quieter lately, this is for you.
How long does it take?
About five business days from the time we confirm your details, followed by your review call.
What if I want the full works?
We also offer a complete Digital Marketing Audit ($1,750) that adds a deeper website, SEO, and social review. Ask us, and we’ll help you pick the right fit.
