There’s one key thing that keeps most businesses from growing the way they could. Hi, my name is Steve Phipps and I’m with Wayfind Marketing and this is your weekly marketing tip.
The one thing that a lot of businesses are missing that’s keeping them from growing is a plan, a roadmap, something that gives guidance to the marketing that needs to be done. Now I’ve shown you this picture of spaghetti because this is what marketing looks like for a lot of people, a lot of businesses. They throw things against the wall seeing what’s going to work and what’s not. And really what ends of happening is a lot of money gets wasted. There’s a lot of frustration because by throwing things against the wall you’re not going to see the results that you could if you had an orchestrated plan. So I’m going to give you a few questions that you can ask to think about your plan.
Number one, how are you driving traffic? How are you getting in front of people? That can be inbound and outbound activities. How are people finding you. How are you getting in front of the right audience. Number two, how are you engaging them? How are you building trust and credibility and establishing trust? Number three, how can you capture their email address and then nurture them towards a buying decision? And then number four, what can you do as people get closer to making a buying decision and especially for B2B which is where we focus. As people get closer what can you do to raise the level of trust and decrease the sense of risk? There are things that you can do. Maybe it’s case studies or things like that. But just think about what can you do at that moment of truth to help make it easier for them to say yes?
So there’s a lot of things that go into a plan but those four questions: How do you drive traffic? How do you engage them and build trust? How do you capture and nurture them through a process and then at the buying decision how do you increase that? So ask those four questions, put them on a whiteboard, brainstorm, get your team involved. Start getting a plan together and then put it on a calendar. If you have questions about putting together a marketing plan get in touch with me, happy to have a conversation. This is the kind of thing that we do with our clients. We actually have a one page marketing roadmap that we’ve put together that gives a high level view, and I tell you what, it works. So hope this helps. Go get a plan and start growing your business.
